Evolution of JMS Metaltec: A Journey of Innovation and Growth
Founded in 1993, JMS Metaltec has undergone significant transformation, evolving from its early days into a leading force in the engineering sector. The company made a strategic shift to focus on advanced metal fabrication, initially harnessing waterbed plasma cutting technology.
In its early years, JMS Metaltec made pivotal investments in profile cutting and established a precision engineering workshop. Despite the challenges of the 2007 financial crisis, the company boldly invested in its first CO2 laser, soon followed by the introduction of advanced CNC brake press technology. These strategic moves fuelled rapid growth, allowing JMS Metaltec to continually expand its technological capabilities.
A major milestone was achieved in July 2014 with the acquisition of the company’s first flat-bed laser, which significantly broadened its customer base and market reach. This momentum continued with the addition of a tube laser three years later, enabling unprecedented precision across a wide range of materials, shapes, and sizes.
In 2016, the company rebranded as JMS Metaltec, reflecting its evolution and growing expertise in advanced metal fabrication and engineering services. This rebranding marked a new chapter in the company’s commitment to innovation, precision, and excellence.
As JMS Metaltec expanded its focus beyond construction, it began serving diverse sectors including agriculture, material handling, mining, renewables, road transport, and aerospace.
In 2019, JMS Metaltec embraced cutting-edge fiber laser technology with the implementation of the Ensis laser system. Paired with an advanced loading tower, this technology enabled extended, uninterrupted production runs, greatly enhancing efficiency and productivity. The company also achieved ISO certification, underscoring its dedication to maintaining the highest standards of quality and continuous improvement.
In 2024, JMS Metaltec further expanded by acquiring a new premise on the outskirts of Ballymena, effectively doubling its operational capacity. The introduction of the Regius laser, renowned for its superior precision and autonomous functions, further strengthened the company’s capabilities, particularly in the laminations department, maximising machine potential and minimising downtime.
Today, JMS Metaltec stands as a recognised leader in engineering innovation, offering a comprehensive range of services including laser and tube cutting, metal folding, fabrication, shot blasting, rubber bonding, assembly & finishing. With its recent expansion and ongoing commitment to technological advancement, JMS Metaltec is well-positioned for continued success and growth in the engineering industry.Â
